Washington became one of the first states in the nation on June 1 to take executive-level action addressing the impact of menopause in the workplace.
Gov. Bob Ferguson signed Executive Order 26-01, directing the Washington State Women’s Commission to work with state agencies to develop workplace accommodations for employees experiencing menopause.
The order aims to improve retention of experienced workers, increase awareness of menopause-related challenges, and expand access to specialized health care providers. State leaders say the initiative addresses a long-overlooked issue by encouraging supportive workplace policies and practices.
