FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. – Lieutenant Colonel Tanisha K. Morton, a respected pediatrician and military medical leader, officially retired after more than 20 years of distinguished service in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard.
Lt. Col. Morton most recently served as a pediatrician assigned to Detachment 1, 141st Medical Group at Fairchild Air Force Base, where she played a vital role in ensuring force health protection, clinical excellence, and mission readiness for over 1,100 airmen supporting global air refueling operations, according to a news release from the base.
As Chief of Medical Staff for FEMA Region X, she led medical triage and stabilization readiness for the Homeland Response Force, supporting statewide emergency response missions. Her leadership encompassed medical operations, credentialing, immunizations, infectious disease control, and deployment preparedness, the release said, while she also advised command leadership on medical policy and patient care.
A La Salle University graduate, Lt. Col. Morton commissioned in 2004 and completed Commissioned Officer Training at Maxwell Air Force Base before earning her Doctor of Medicine from New York University School of Medicine. She began her Air Force career at Fairchild in 2011, serving as a pediatrician, Medical Director of Immunizations, and Pediatrics Flight Commander.
In 2016, she transitioned from active duty with the 92nd Medical Group to the 141st Medical Group in the Washington Air National Guard, continuing her commitment to service and clinical leadership.
Beyond her military career, Lt. Col. Morton serves as a full-time pediatrician and district medical director with Kaiser Permanente Washington, where she continues to impact lives through compassionate care and community health advocacy.
Her retirement marks the conclusion of a remarkable career defined by excellence, integrity and an unwavering dedication to service.
